David’s 6 Month Self-Employed Career Check In…

Well, in only a few more days, it will be 6 months since I left Capital One. I left Capital One with the intent to take the summer off in order to focus on my own triathlon training and racing without the stresses and time commitments associated with a full time job. I did not line up another job. I reckoned that I had enough savings to live off of for about 6 months before I would have to tap into other assets. So now where am I now? First, I did send out my resume to friends a few months ago as I knew I had to find work soon, but I received very little response from any of the companies....

Race Director: The Smallwood Triathlon – Another Success!

At 1:3o PM on Saturday, September 30th, the parking lot in front of the Marina Services Building in General Smallwood State Park was empty except for my Volvo wagon. The only indication that there might have been a triathlon in the park was a long white trailer with “Set-up, Inc” stamped on the side that slowly pulled out of the parking lot. I stood next to my car surveying the scene. The race was over and the park was cleaner than when we had arrived on Friday morning.
