She Does Tri Camp: Big Success!

“Wow!” is the best word that Krista Schultz and I could come up to describe how we feel after the inaugural She Does Tri Camp for Women in Warrenton, VA this past weekend. We doubt we’ll ever be able to get such a wonderful group of women in the future. They have set the bar extremely high for future camps.

Beginning Friday afternoon and continuing through Sunday afternoon, the campers spent a fun-filled and informative weekend learning about the sport of triathlon and practicing each of the four events – swim, bike, run and transition. Instructors included former pro triathlete and race announcer Brad Rex, elite swimmer Mindy Apple, Tim Dingus and pro cyclist Simeon Green of Warrenton Cycling Center, Natalie King, CIMT, PTA of Schrier Physical Therapy and David Greenfield of Elite Bicycles.

Our goal was to create a fun, non-competitive, and welcoming environment that focuses on the specific needs of women for training, nutrition and racing. I believe we accomplished that goal.

Rather than describe my experience, I’d like to share some of the feedback we received:

I only have three words to say about this camp: Worth Every Penny! Thanks to David Glover and Krista Shultz for an information packed, fun weekend. Catherine Goodrum, Bill’s wife (aka the O.F.B) were fabulous hosts and did a great job bringing in local talent. From the seated massages on Sunday to Natalie King, Physical Therapist from Baltimore and David Greenfield from Elite Cycles! Even for a veteran triathlete like me this camp was just what I needed to get motivated for another season! Thanks! O.K. so that was more than three words.

This weekend was a great experience and I’m so motivated. Many thanks to Kristi and David for designing and executing an effective educational experience in an environment that was comfortable for women with diverse experience.

I third (fourth?) the motion – you guys did did great and my fellow campers are phenomenal women! I feel much better prepared for my first tri and more knowledgeable about general fitness, nutrition, training, swimming, biking, and even women’s stuff. I look forward to seeing you all in Luray.

For me personally, I took away a tremendous feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment from working with Krista to plan and develop the She Does Tri Camps for women and being able to share what I’ve learned in 15 years of racing and training triathlons.

Live life richly and boldly!

David
