Beyer Project success: Bill earns his Kona slot!

Bill and David at Triple-T in 2006 Ironman Coeur d'Alene on June 21, 2009 marked the final stage in a triathlon coaching and social experiment called the "Beyer Project."

UPDATE: Download my article that appeared in the Winter 2010 issue of Tri-DC Magazine HERE.

For 6 months beginning in January 2009, I was Bill Beyer’s "live-in" triathlon coach: working with Bill one-on-one, providing accountability, giving him real-time feedback and ultimately helping guide him on his quest for Kona and the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

This six month experiment was the Beyer Project.

Bill crossed the finish line in a time of 10:52:57 to beat his 2007 Coeur d'Alene time by 1 hr 16 minutes and earn a Kona slot through the Executive Challenge.

I interviewed Bill a week after his successful race at Coeur d'Alene to see what he had to say about his preparation, race day and plans for the future. In this part of the video interview, Bill discusses the secrets of his success, taking "ownership" of his race and his upcoming preparation for Hawaii:

For more background on the Beyer Project, please read this earlier post: The Beyer Project: Bill’s Quest for Kona.

Live life richly and boldly!
