I thought I would share this race report from on my clients, Paul Fedor, who recently returned to triathlon after taking an 8 +/- year break to focus on his job and kids. Ten or so years ago, Paul and I used to ride together quite frequently. The 4th Annual Luray International and Sprint Triathlons were held at Lake Arrowhead in Luray, VA this past weekend with more than 500 athletes competing each day including 30 athletes who earned a “Luray Double” hand-engraved goblet by successfully finishing both races. Athletes represented 19 different states with 75% coming from Virginia. The youngest competitor was 14 and the oldest was 76. Last night I participated in a tourism meeting organized by the Luray – Page County Chamber of Commerce. I was there to promote the Luray Triathlon to the Page County businesses. The Luray Triathlon, now in its fourth year, will bring in 1,200 athletes plus spectators to Luray and Page County on race weekend – August 15 and 16 – which brings in significant tourism money to the community.
