Client Success at Beach2Battleship Ironman
As a triathlon coach, it’s always rewarding to see my clients succeed in their goals. When I sit down and think about what my client Dan Head accomplished at Beach2Battleship on November 7th, I am truly amazed. Beach2Battleship in Wilmington, NC was Dan’s first Ironman triathlon (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run), and he finished in an amazing time of 10:59. What makes Dan’s finish time so amazing is not that Beach2Battleship was his first Ironman race nor that he is 45 years old and works full-time as a consultant, but rather that Dan is a husband and father...

This blog entry the second of a series of articles that began with my first race, Ironman Canada and will ultimately end with my 25th Ironman-distance triathlon at ChesapeakeMan this past October. Russ asked me, “Are you planning to come back to Vineman this year?” “Absolutely,” I said. “Great, we’d like to induct...

At 1:3o PM on Saturday, September 30th, the parking lot in front of the Marina Services Building in General Smallwood State Park was empty except for my Volvo wagon. The only indication that there might have been a triathlon in the park was a long white trailer with “Set-up, Inc” stamped on the side that slowly pulled out of the parking lot. I stood next to my car surveying the scene. The race was over and the park was cleaner than when we had arrived on Friday morning. It seemed hard to believe that only a few hours earlier there were almost 500 bicycles lined up on aluminum...
